The country's own SUV leader Mahindra and Mahindra is developing a fleet of new soft-roaders to fight tooth and nail in the booming mid-size segments in our country. The company is developing a new family of 3-4 models which will compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster in India. And, interestingly, the new members in family will boasts of Mahindra's next-generation design language which is supposed to shed the boxy disposition of the company products.

The senior officials has recently approved the design of the new models. Apparently, one of the under-development projects will be based on SsangYong's X100 platform that will contend in the sub-10 lakh MUV segment. While the two C-SUV models, codenamed as S101 and S102, would be developed from scratch to target the mass market under the competitive price range of Rs. 4.5 - 8.5 lakhs. However, all the new models will not reach to outlets before 2015.

Mahindra has developed a strong presence in the Indian as well as offshore markets. The high-flyer products like Scorpio, Bolero, XUV 500 and Thar have been satisfactorily serving the Indian customers. Moreover, all model are targeted on different segments to fulfill the chasm between them which is easy to perceive as Mahindra is the biggest utility seller in the Indian market. However, the decade old designs and not major up-gradations to the existing models, over which the tough competitions from new models have drastically affected the company's sales in last few months. But company is making a lot efforts to rejuvenate its presence in the market.
