Mahindra & Mahindra, the home-grown automaker, has announced the launch of E-Verito sedan on June 2, 2016 in the country. Fot those asking, the Mahindra E-Verito is the electric derivative of Verito sedan and it was firstly showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in concept form. It is being learnt that, identical to the standard Verito, the E-Verito would also be launched in three grades: D2, D4 and D6. The pricing is expected to start at Rs. 8 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
Mahindra E-Verito took quite a long time before entering production and perhaps the slow sales of standard Verito can be a reason behind it. The electric sedan would draw power from a 72V, 3-phase electric motor which would generate a maximum power output of 40bhp and peak torque performance of 91Nm. It can cover a distance of upto 100 kms on a single charge. The electric motor can be fully charged in 8 hours. However, the option of fast charging is also available, albeit with the range-topping D6 variant only. Fast charging feature lets a buyer charge the sedan in just one and half hour.
The Verito Electric would have a top speed of 86kmph. The E-Verito is also expected to come with a few subtle cosmetic changes to distinguish it from the standard Verito. It could flaunt special stickers and low resistance tyres to differ it from the regular sedan. The interior cabin of the E-Verito is expected to be on similar lines as the standard version. Just so you know, the E-Verito would also benefit from the FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric vehicles) scheme initiated by the Government of India. Even the company showcased the sedan at the FAME India Eco Drive last year on on World Environment Day in New Delhi.
