Mahindra Electric, the electric vehicle department of Mahindra & Mahindra has teased the upcoming e2o Plus which is scheduled to launch tomorrow. The Mahindra e2o Plus is the successor to its existing electric vehicle, the e2o, and is expected to arrive with a wide range of improvements and upgradations. The e2o, despite of being very light on pocket in terms of fuel expenses, could not see much of momentum simply because the car overall was practically not suitable to the requirements of an Indian family. Mahindra has tried to address those issues and fill the gap in the new e2o plus.
Though Mahindra has not yet revealed too much of information about the latest car, certain facts and features could be brought to light. Keeping in mind the preference of Indian families, the upgraded version of e2o has been provided with four doors this time to make sure that accommodation issues are made better off.
The Mahindra e2o Plus also gets a longer wheelbase and better cabin space, making the rear seats more useful. Though much of the unrevealed information could not be traced, it could be made out from the teasing images that the newest electronic archetype is believed to carry a similar chiseled design, with sharp cuts on its body. The elongated body will be carried on 13-inch tubeless tyres.
The e2o Plus will be packed with a more powerful battery pack that will have a better running time than its predecessor, which claimed to run 120 kms on five hours of charging. Plus the users will also have the option to go for quick charging feature which can fully charge the battery in just one hour. It is believed to have an electronic speed limit of not more than 80 kmph. The power output is expected to be similar to its predecessor i.e. 25.8PS of power and 53Nm of torque.
The e2o Plus gets a futuristic shape with a great looking interior dashboard that shows off a music system, that is friendly to DVD, MP3 and CD, Bluetooth connectivity and an option for automated ORVMs. Moreover, it would be equipped with power steering which would make manoeuvring busy city street smooth as anything.
The Mahindra e2o Plus is expected to get a price tag of around Rs 7.5 lakhs, which would place it in a price bracket where one could easily get attracted towards buying a mainstream premium hatchback or sedan. Only time can tell whether the electric car is able to get impressive sales figure in such a challenging environment, or just becomes another showpiece in the company’s portfolio.
