Mahindra has finally launched the most awaited Compact SUV the ‘KUV100’, the “Kool Utility Vehicle”, specially designed for the youth of the country at an introductory price of Rs. 4.42 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Pune) in the country. It will be offered in seven variants K2, K2+, K4, K4+, K6, K6+, K8. Mahindra's KUV100 will be positioned below the recently launched TUV300.
Talking about the exterior, the KUV100 sports a unique set of headlights with LED daytime running lights and turn indicators. The front fascia seems to be inspired by its big brother the ‘KUV500’, it gets a black plastic cladded bumper, an airdam with large silver skid plate, and on the sides, it gets black underbody plastic covering while at the rear flared wheel arches and a set of twin 6 spoke alloy wheels are seen. It also features gets body coloured bumpers, electric ORVMs and roof mounted antenna. The KUV100 will be available in six colours the Fiery Orange, Dazzling Silver, Designer Grey, Aquamarine, Pearl White and Midnight Black.
Speaking of the KUV100 interiors, It is offered with two seating configurations a standard 3+2 and a 3+3 seating configuration, in which both front and rear passengers have centre arm rests. The gear lever is amazingly placed on the Piano Black centre console giving a nice space to the person sitting in the middle. The Mahindra KUV100 comes with multifunction steering wheel, front door puddle lamps, gearshift indicator, power steering and front armrest, foldable rear seats and power windows, height adjustable driver’s seat, infotainment system with 4 speakers, rear armrest, cooled glove box and two driving modes – Power and Eco.
Under the hood, the engine is powered with an 1.2-litre mFalcon G80 aluminium petrol paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox that delivers 82 BHP at 5500 RPM and 114 Nm of torque between 3500-3600 RPM and a 1.2-litre mFalcon D75 CRDe diesel engine connected to a 5-speed gearbox that produces 77 BHP at 3750 RPM and 190 Nm of torque between 1750-2250 RPM. The drive is delivered on the front wheels, while an AMT unit can be expected later this year.
Mahindra KUV100 does not lack on the safety front also, it comes packed with ABS, EBD as standard across all variants. The safety package is denoted by the ‘+’ sign ahead of the variant name and the Dual front airbags are offered as an additional safety package available right from the base K2 trim. Similarly, the K4 and K6 variant with the safety package will be denoted by ‘K4+ and K6+’ respectively. There are ISOFIX child seat mounts provision at the rear.
