The home grown automajor, Mahindra has silently launched the XUV500 1.99L AT starting at Rs 14.51 lakh (Ex showroom, Delhi). Earlier the leading SUV manufacturer introduced the manual variants of the XUV500 and Scorpio with the same downsized diesel units, especially for the national capital region, due to the ban of diesel engine above 2000cc capacity in the Delhi-NCR.
The 6-speed automatic gearbox is the same that is employed in other automatic variants of the SUV in India. The transmission duties will be served to the W6, W8 and the W10 variants, while the All-wheel drive versions will continue to be offered with the manual transmission. Available in three trims – W6, W8 and W10. The base version W6 is priced at Rs INR 14.51 lakhs, the W8 at Rs 15.94 lakhs and the fully loaded W10 retails for Rs 17.32 lakhs (All prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).
For the Delhi-NCR, the Mahindra XUV 500 is powered by a 1.99-litre diesel engine that delivers 140bhp at 3,750rpm and 320Nm of torque between 1,600 and 2,800rpm. The regular versions gets a 2.2-litre engine that churns out 140bhp and 330Nm of torque. Transmission options available are a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
It is expected that Mahindra could introduce 1.99L versions of the Scorpio and XUV500 in the region that affected by the NGT diesel ban. Rportedly Disel banning could be extended to the 11 more cities.
