Pawan Goenka is the MD of Mahindra & Mahindra.
He has purchased his first new car in 26 years.
Has chosen the Mahindra XUV 300.
Dr. Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, Mahindra & Mahindra, has made a car purchase. While it might not surprise many that he has picked a Mahindra, the fact that it is the first car he has purchased in 26 years will definitely raise at least a few eyebrows.
In a tweet, Dr. Goenka mentioned that it is the first ‘self-owned’ car in that time period and that while he ‘has driven the XUV 300 as MD of M&M many times, driving it as an owner and customer was a different excitement’.
The XUV 300 that he has picked is the top-spec W8 (O) one, with features such as an AMT automatic gearbox, a sunroof, 17-inch alloy wheels, and leatherette upholstery. He’s opted for the ‘Raging red’ paint option that is exclusive to the XUV W8. The XUV has been developed on the same platform as the Ssangyong Tivoli but has different styling that fits into the Mahindra design language requirements. The XUV 300 competes in the sub-4 metre SUV segment, along with the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Ford Ecosport, and Tata Nexon. Some of the XUV 300’s stand-out features include heated mirrors, steering with different levels of assist, seven airbags, front parking sensors, and a dual-zone climate control system.
High-ranked executives usually get vehicles assigned to them by the company in India, which is why it is unusual for someone of the stature of Dr. Goenka to make a vehicle purchase unless there is a requirement for more than one car in the household. Judging by how Mumbai has flooded once again this monsoon, it seems like Dr. Goenka has made the right choice by picking a product from a manufacturer whose specialty is SUVs!
