Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Pvt. Ltd., an electric arm of the Mahindra Group has slashed prices of its E2O electric car by INR 1.7 lakhs. While the E2O’s price in Delhi is now INR 4.99 lakhs. Therefore, the buyers who are willing to go for this eco-friendly vehicle at this price tag, will have to pay a monthly battery rental fee of INR 2,599 rupees each month.

Basically, Mahindra is renting batteries of your vehcile, for a monthly sum of INR 2,599. Although, this doesn't include the electricity bills that the customer will have to pay for charging the E2O’s lithium ion batteries for regular running. These monthly installments will run for a tenure of 5 years and eventually, the E2O buyer will end up paying about INR 1.56 lakh to the company. This is assuming that the E2O is run 800 kilometers a month/50,000 kilometers in 5 years.

The scheme also ensures the performance guarantee of the battery, as the ownership lies with Mahindra REVA. Customers get 24X7 assistance and a courtesy car as well during the battery repair period. Mahindra is calling this new marketing scheme as the “Goodbye Fuel, Hello Electric” program. This new scheme from the manufacturer, is more-or-less an effort to attract more buyers to boost up the declining sales of the car.
