Mahindra S101 (codename) spotted without disguise for first time

Snapshot: The S101 hatchback has been spied for the very first time without any disguise during its official TVC filming.

Mahindra has a knack of keeping its upcoming products under wraps for quite a long time and we saw it happening with the TUV 300. Mahindra TUV 300 was shot innumerous times with camouflage and then teased many times before unveiling officially. The same trend is being witnessed for the upcoming S101 (codename) hatchback.

The S101 hatchback has been spied for the very first time without any disguise during its official TVC filming. The car has created quite a buzz even before its arrival due to many reasons, primary among them is the fact that this will be the first hatchback from the manufacturer known for building Utility vehicles and SUVs.

The S101 is expected to be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre three cylinder diesel engine. Both the engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Expect the S101 to launch around the last week of January 2016 with a price range of Rs 4 Lakhs. It will compete against the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Tata Zica, Hyundai i10 and Honda Brio.

With the arrival of Renault Kwid, the demand of hatchbacks with SUV stance has increased in the market and the Mahindra S101 will cash on this demand. The SUVish stance will help S101 stand out of the crowd, with sharp styling on the front fascia. The interiors are also expected to be well laid out with a LCD screen and three-spoke steering wheel.
