Mahindra has finally unveiled the first official teaser image of the Mahindra S101 and the company has also announced that it will reveal the name of the product on December 18. As we know, the web is all flooded with rumours of it to be named as the “Mahindra KUV100”. The Mahindra S101 will enter in the segment of the compact SUV, and reportedly, the market launch is expected to be in the third week of January 2016.
Mahindra is at loss after the recent ban on diesel vehicles in the NCR region, as all the products manufactured by the company use a diesel engine displacing more than 2,000 cc. To overcome this, Mahindra will introduce the all-new petrol engine in its compact SUV. It could be offered with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder unit producing 80 bhp and 110 Nm of torque. The S101 can also be powered by a mHawk three-cylinder diesel unit, which apart a 5-speed manual gearbox will also offer an automated manual transmission (AMT).
This model will be the smallest and most affordable product by Mahindra and is is like to start at a price of Rs 4 lakh (ex-showroom).
