Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to launch the Scoprio facelift tomorrow on November 14, 2017 in the Indian market. But prior to the official launch, the refreshed SUV has been spotted in flesh in a video released by IAB reader Sheriyar Shaikh. The video provides insight about the exterior updates that the Mahindra Scorpio facelift would come with. Though, the cosmetic updates are not substantial as there are a few subtle changes at the front end and rear profile. The facelifted SUV also gets a bump in power output and torque performance.
Speaking of the updates in detail, Mahindra Scorpio facelift flaunts a new ‘toothed’ grille, which seems to have been borrowed from the Imperio pick-up truck. The new front grille comprises of chrome lined teeth. The SUV now boasts of vertical slats for the air intake and round fog lamps with chrome bezels. The tail-gate comes with a more traditional number plate area with a much neat appearance. Red tinted tail lamp glass, ORVMs integrated with turn signals, and new 5-spoke alloy wheels sum up the exterior updates. The cabin is expected to be retained from the ongoing model, save for a couple of subtle updates in form of upholstery, seat fabric and dash plastic quality.
As evident by the ‘Micro Hybrid’ badging on the tailgate, the Mahindra Scorpio facelift would continue with the engine stop/start fuel-saving technology. The new SUV would get the same powertrain albeit with bump in power and torque figures. The power output has been increased by 20bhp, while the torque performance has witnessed a rise of 50Nm. The new top power and peak torque are 140bhp and 330Nm, respectively. The 5-speed manual gearbox has gone for a toss in favor of a new 6-speed manual transmission. Also, rumormill is abuzz with speculation that a new 6-speed automatic gearbox is also in the offing. Mahindra Scorpio would take on the likes of Tata Safari Storme, Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster in the Indian market.
