Mahindra Scorpio facelift would be launching on September 25, 2014 and the company dealers have officially started taking pre-orders for the same. However, only existing Scorpio customers would be able to book the SUV from today, while the other customers have to wait till September 18.
Currently, there are around 4.5 Lakh Scorpio owners and they can book the new Scorpio between 15-17 September. New Mahindra Scorpio has nothing to do with its predecessor as it is entirely new and has witnessed an array of upgrades both cosmetically and mechanically. First things first, the new Scorpio would come with a hydroformed ladder-frame chassis which would make it a tad lighter than th outgoing version. Although, it would retain the 2.2L diesel motor but it would be coupled with an upgraded 5-speed manual gearbox.
As far as exterior appearance is concerned, the new Scorpio would flaunt projector headlamps, redesigned front grille, LED tail lamp cluster and an all new set of alloys. Inside the cabin, it would boast an all new dashboard with refurbished instrument cluster. There is a new steering wheel which is sourced directly from the elder sibling Mahindra XUV 500. In addition, it has been revealed via spy-shots that it would carry a touchscreen infotainment system to entice buyers. The seat fabric are also new which make it much advanced, up-market and premium. As, there is very little time of around 10 days is left in its official launch; the company is all geared up and has already commenced its production to avoid any lengthy waiting period. It is expected to be priced around Rs. 50000 more than the current pricing of the lineup. It would be locking horns with the likes of Tata Safari Storme, Renualt Duster and Nissan Terrano in the country.
