Mahindra Scorpio facelift is fully revealed ahead of its much anticipated launch on September 25, 2014. Our friends at Team BHP have been able to capture the new Scorpio prior to its official launch without any camouflage. Going by the twin spy shots that we have for the time being, one thing can be said for sure that it has nothing to do with the predecessor, at least in terms of exterior designing and appearance.
Mahindra Scorpio facelift would be offered across six trims - S2, S4, S6, S6+, S8 and S10. The advance bookings have already commenced on a token amount of Rs. 20,000 via Snapdeal, an one-of-its-type for any vehicle. At the front, the new Scorpio boasts an entirely new black grille which is complimented by a rectangular projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights. The Scorpio facelift also gets a tweaked front bumper and redesigned bonnet but it doesn't appear as rugged and muscular as it was earlier. The masculine appeal and ruggedness of the SUV has been toned down in favor of a sophisticated design and appearance. The mid-level variants also get body colored ORVMs, door handles and bumpers.
The modifications at the rear, however, are less except for the inclusion of an all new LED tail lamp cluster and bootlid features a black applique with a silver enclosure for the registration plate. The upper extensions of the taillights are replaced with grab handles to accommodate better ingress. The SUV would have an all new “3rd Generation” chassis. Inside the cabin, it would be having a new dashboard and instrument cluster. The steering wheel and 6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, that acts both as reverse parking camera and navigation system, have been directly sourced from the elder sibling and company's flagship SUV - Mahindra XUV 500. In addition, it would have rear A/C vents for the automatic climate control air conditioner. The SUV would compete against the likes of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Tata Safari Storme. It is expected to be placed in a price range of 8 - 12.5 Lakhs.
