United States of America’s public postal service which is named as United States Postal Service has shortlisted India’s automotive major, Mahindra & Mahindra who is famous for making utility vehicles, to design a Next-Generation Delivery Vehicle or NGDV prototype for its new fleet.
Mahindra and mahindra had filed a proposal for the prototype contract back in October 2015. The US Postal Services (USPS) has now given one year for the six shortlisted firms to develop and present their final prototypes. These prototypes will then be tested and analysed by postal service department, before giving out future vehicle production contracts.
The North American wing of Mahindra went ahead and submitted the proposal for the vehicle which will focus on safety, will be fuel efficient and will be designed ergonomically to offer maximum driver comfort and it will have good load carrying capacity.
According to the Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra, the United States Postal Service department has recognised Mahindra’s engineering proposal and selected the company for vehicle development and prototype delivery. This is a strategic development in Mahindra’s ambition which will help it to become a global player.
