Mahindra TUV300 Launched at Rs. 6.90 Lakhs

Snapshot: Mahindra TUV300 is being introduced in 7 variants and three trims - T4, T4 (Optional), T6, T6+, T6 AMT, T8 and T8 AMT.

Mahindra & Mahindra, the home-grown automaker, has finally launched the much-awaited TUV300 compact SUV at an introductory price of Rs. 6.90 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom, Pune) in the country. Being designed in Mumbai and engineered at Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai, it is presented in a 5+2 seating configuration. The bookings for the Mahindra TUV300 started on September 1, 2015 at all company authorized dealerships nationwide at a token amount of Rs. 20,000. Just so you know, 'T' stands for 'Tough', while 300 denotes positioning in the name TUV300.

Mahindra TUV300 is being introduced in 7 variants and three trims - T4, T4 (Optional), T6, T6+, T6 AMT, T8 and T8 AMT. Underpinning Mahindra 3rd generation ladder-frame chassis, TUV300 comes with tailgate mounted spare wheel, static bending headlamps, rear parking sensors and two jump seats at each side behind the second row. For those asking, new Mahindra Scorpio was the first company vehicle to come with the same chassis. The wheelbase measures at 2680mm, despite the SUV being less than 4-meters in length. The ground clearance is 184mm, which seems to be quite decent. The company said that, for the time being, the TUV300 would be available in rear-wheel-drive, while a 4X4 variant could be launched later. Mahindra TUV300 gets a dual-tone interior along with a twin-pod instrument cluster and Hexapod centre console. In addition, the TUV300 has the best-in-segment boot capacity of 384 litres, which can be extended upto 720 litres after the second rwo is folded.

Under the hood, Mahindra TUV300 has a 1.5L, 3-cylinder mHawk80 engine which develops a maximum power of 80bhp and peak torque of 235Nm. The engine comes with two-stage turbo charger, just like the Quanto, while the torque is class-leading and even more than 85 PS Renault Duster. It delivers an ARAI certified mileage of 18.49kmpl, while boasting of Mahindra's 'MicroHybrid' technology and an ECO mode. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and an AMT gearbox, which is termed as 'AutoShift' by the company. As for safety, the TUV300 compact SUV has dual front airbags with ABS and EBD on offer, albeit in the top variants. However, even the base variants can be brought with these top-notch safety features. Below is the variant-wise pricing (Ex-Showroom, Pune) of the TUV300:
