Mahindra & Mahindra, the home-grown automajor, would start accepting bookings for its keenly-awaited TUV3OO compact SUV nationwide from tomorrow - September 1, 2015 - at a token amount of Rs. 30,000-50,000. The TUV3OO would be launched in the country on September 10, 2015. Being a sub 4-meter SUV and Ford EcoSport's direct rival, it is expected to be priced in a domain of Rs. 6.5-9 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). Mahindra says that TUV3OO's exterior styling cues have been taken from a "battle tank" with several sportier elements like raised shoulders, high front nose, flat roof, high ground clearance, and straight bonnet to make it more desirable. Being codenamed earlier as U301, the Mahindra TUV300 is an all new SUV platform. The Mahindra TUV300 has been designed and developed in-house by the Mahindra design team. The research and development of Mahindra TUV300 has been carried out at the world class Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai. The company has released several official design sketches of the SUV, including the steering wheel and instrument cluster image. Just so you know, the interior cabin of Mahindra TUV3OO would be finished in dual tone black and beige shade.
Mechanically, the TUV3OO is expected to arrive in diesel avatar only with company's advanced and new 'mHawk80' engine. It is said to be the donwn-graded version of Quanto's 1.5L, 3-cylinder motor. It could develop a maximum power of upto 100bhp, while being available with two gearbox options: a 5-speed manual as standard and an AMT as optional. Besides TUV3OO, Mahindra would also launch yet another all-new SUV in the country, which is currently undergoing its final test runs and codenamed as S101.
