Mahindra TUV3OO - Variants & Features

Snapshot: Being based on an all-new platform, the TUV3OO would be launched in three variants - T4, T6 and T8.

Mahindra & Mahindra, the home-grown automaker, is all set to launch the TUV3OO tomorrow - September 10, 2015 - in the country. But prior to the official launch, fresh details regarding the variants and features of the new compact SUV have emerged on the web. Just so you know, Mahindra TUV3OO can be booked at any company authorized dealership across the nation by paying Rs. 20,000, while deliveries would start shortly after the launch.

Being based on an all-new platform, the TUV3OO would be launched in three variants - T4, T6 and T8. It is being learnt that TUV3OO would feature Mahindra's micro hybrid system. One might know, the micro hybrid system is already on offer in new Scorpio and Bolero SUVs as 'FuelSmart'. This system boasts of a start/stop motor which automatically switches off the engine while the vehicle is in a state of rest, like waiting at the traffic light. It saves quite a lot of fuel and Mahindra, going a step ahead, has also included a new Eco mode with this system in the TUV3OO. For those wondering, the Eco mode would balance engine output for aircon power in order to increase efficiency.

As said before, TUV3OO's exterior styling is inspired from a "battle tank", while the interior cabin borrows several elements from other Mahindra SUVs. The cabin has a dual Black and Beige paint scheme with multi-function steering wheel. The instrument cluster has been sourced from the XUV500. The home-grown automaker would offer dual front airbags and ABS as standard safety features. Under the hood, the TUV3OO compact SUV would have a 1.5L, 3-cylinder mHawk80 diesel engine which, reportedly, would develop a maximum power of 80bhp and peak torque of 235Nm. It would be linked to a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed AMT gearbox. Surprisingly, despite being a sub 4-meter SUV and direct competition to Ford EcoSport, the TUV3OO would be available in a 7-seat configuration with two jump seats behind the second row. As far as pricing is concerned, Mahindra TUV3OO is expected to start from Rs. 6.50 Lakhs and going as high as Rs. 8.50 Lakhs for the flagship variant.
