Mahindra & Mahindra, the home-grown automajor, has christened the U301 compact SUV as TUV300. The company also revealed that it would launch the TUV300 in mid-september this year. Just so you know, Mahindra TUV300 is an all-new vehicle with length lesser than 4 meters, and it wouldn't replace the ongoing model of Bolero SUV. Additionally, Mahindra has also released the official design sketches of the TUV300 SUV.
Mahindra said that TUV300's engine is based on its existing mHawk engine and it is named as mHawk80. Being developed in Chennai at Mahindra Research Park, the new mHawk80 engine is expected to be more powerful and fuel efficient. Mahindra TUV300 would feature a tailgate-mounted spare wheel and moreover, Pininfarina - the Italian design house - also played a significant part in its exterior styling. For those asking, Mahindra TUV300 aka U301 wouldn't feature a 4X4 drive system; however, the platform would spawn an all-wheel-drive model, which could be the S101 compact SUV. The TUV300 would directly rival the Ford EcoSport in the country.
Mahindra TUV300 would be introduced in both petrol and diesel fuel trims. The compay has launched an all-new website for the new SUV, which provides more information regarding the product. Mahindra said in an official statement, "TUV300 borrows its design philosophy from a tank. After all, both are designed to survive difficult situations, look as strong as they are, and give commanding visibility of the road." Furthermore, the home-grown automajor has claimed that all new Mahindra TUV300 would be by far, the toughest looking SUV in the country.
