Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), the home-grown automaker, is all set to introduce Apple CarPlay connectivity feature with its flagship vehicle, the XUV500, in the country. However, only the range-topping W11 (O) will get this feature on the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. In addition, three other variants W7, W9 and W11(O), equipped with the 7.0-inch touchscreen unit, will be offered with Android Auto connectivity. Recently, Mahindra XUV500's arch rival Tata Harrier also received the same connectivity feature.
The official brochure of the XUV500 has already been updated with the inclusion of Apple CarPlay technology. Recently, the company also introduced a new base variant W3 of the SUV. Furthermore, it is being learnt that the Mumbai-based automaker is also working on a 7-seater variant which will be powered by its all-new BS VI compliant 2.0L 4-cylinder diesel engine. The new engine will be available in three states of power and the XUV500 will get the most powerful version. As a matter of fact, this engine will also make its way to the next-gen models of Thar and Scorpio in the mean time. Mahindra XUV500 is priced in a range of Rs 12.30-18.51 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, New Delhi) in the Indian market.
Meanwhile, Mahindra has already started working on the next-gen XUV500 and it will be jointly developed with Ford. Under this newly formed alliance, both the companies will also develop a new SUV with 'Ford' moniker which will be based on the XUV500. The new C-segment SUV is likely to be launched in 2020. Also, the next-gen Scorpio can also be seen testing which will come out by the end of 2019. The company is also planning to introduce Thar special edition with a host of safety features in the coming weeks. Moreover, work on the BS VI diesel engine is also in full swing and it can be seen under the hood of company's latest launch the XUV300. Expect a volley of launches from Mahindra in 2020.
