Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to launch the XUV300 AMT in the Indian market by the end of this month. Recently, the company had conducted media drive of the AMT model and now we have learnt that the dealer dispatch has begun. The demo units of Mahindra XUV300 AMT can be spotted at several dealerships, which was confirmed by a YouTube video by AutoTrend TV. Earlier, the micro-SUV was spied undisguised during its TVC shoot and it was believed that the AMT gearbox will be available in top-end W6 and W8 variants.
Going by the video, it is the flagship W8 variant which is equipped with the AMT gearbox. The AMT unit in question here is rumoured to be a 6-speed transmission developed by Magnetti Marelli. However, Mahindra doesn't have any long term plans for this as the company is working on a 6-speed torque converter unit which will replace the AMT gearbox as and when it is ready, most probably by April 1, 2020 along with the BS VI upgrades. The tailgate of the SUV in the video flaunts an 'autoSHIFT' badge which differentiates it with the manual variants. Mahindra XUV300 is priced in a range of Rs 7.90-11.99 Lakhs (Ex. showroom, Delhi) and the AMT variants are expected to cost at least Rs 50,000 more than the corresponding manual variants.
Speaking of the features, the Mahindra XUV300 AMT W8 will loaded with several bells and whistles in form of projector headlamps with LED DRLs, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, electric sunroof, leatherette upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control and 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and GPS navigation etc. to name a few. The standard safety features on offer will be 7 airbags, four disc brakes, front parking sensors and ESP with Roll-over Mitigation. The SUV will be powered by the same 1.2L turbo petrol engine which generates top power of 108bhp at 5000rpm and peak torque of 200Nm between 2000-3500rpm. The diesel variants draw power from the 1.5L turbo engine. Both the engines come with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard.
