Likely to be launched in October 2019
Upgraded XUV300 petrol version will be introduced first, then diesel version
Mahindra & Mahindra has finally revealed that Mahindra XUV300 will have a BS-VI complaint petrol engine. It will be the first car from Mahindra that will comply with upcoming stringent emission norms. As it is under the development phase, the compact SUV’ camouflaged test mule spied testing in the Delhi-NCR region.
The BS-VI compliant XUV300 is more likely to be launched in the coming months, might be in October 2019. The Mahindra XUV300 diesel variant will soon be updated with the strict norms, however, the upgraded BS-VI compliant petrol engine will be available by the end of 2019.
Talking of the Mahindra XUV300 specs, at present the compact SUV is powered by a turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engine which is capable of producing a peak power of 110 PS and a max torque of 200 Nm. When upgraded to strict emission control, the engine will produce 10 Nm less torque.
Currently, no model of Mahindra, except Mahindra XUV300 that gets the power from a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The upgraded motor of XUV300 is mated to a six-speed manual transmission, however, the automatic transmission might be available in the future.
The BS-VI Mahindra XUV300 is expected to be slightly expensive that the present model as the advanced exhaust system and upgraded software wil be used in this model.
The carmaker has not yet given an official word over the pricing of the new model, so we are expecting that it will not cost over Rs 20,000 than the current model. The current Mahindra XUV300 price in India is between Rs 8.1 lakhs to 12.69 lakhs (both are ex-showroom prices, Gurgaon).
Coming to the diesel version of Mahindra XUV300 that is shared with Mahindra Marazzo, need some serious updates in order to have BS6 compliance. The diesel variant will be around Rs 80,000 expensive when it will be BS6 compliant.
