With the launch of the Mahindra XUV300 today, the efforts are not over for the company, the game has only begun as Mahindra is gearing up to go full throttle to prove the versatility of the all-new XUV300 sub-compact SUV.
Mahindra and Mahindra disclosed in November 2018 that an all-electric XUV300 variant is in the works. And now more recently, the company officially proclaimed a launch somewhere around late 2020.
Commenting on the electric XUV300, Dr Pawan Goenka, MD of Mahindra & Mahindra, "Electric variant of this, which we have codenamed S210, is currently being developed and we expect to launch it in the second half of the calendar year 2020."
The Mahindra XUV300 Electric is codenamed Mahindra S210 and it will be the first of the next-gen electric cars from Mahindra Electric. Mahindra Electric plans to introduce its modern EV with two varied battery options keeping in mind the economy of the product and buyers expecting the same.
Dr Goenka further added, “We will probably do two versions – one will be more of an object of desire with more kWh, one will be more of an object of utility, perhaps for more of commuting experience.”
He also said about the battery that, “This will be in a higher kWh than what we are currently doing. Currently, we are in 21 kWh in Verito EV and this will be higher.”
The all-new Mahindra XUV300 standard variant price starts from Rs 7.90 lakh (ex-showroom India). The Mahindra XUV300 electric vehicle units are expected to arrive in dealerships across India by the middle of 2020.
