The homegrown UV maker, Mahindra will officially launch the much-anticipated XUV300 compact SUV in the Indian market on February 14, 2019. Bookings for the SUV have already been started at a token amount of RS 20,000. Mahindra has also announced that its small SUV will be available in 6 single-tone exterior paint schemes - Red Range, Sunburst Orange, Pearl White, Napoli Black, DSAT Silver and Aquamarine.
The Mahindra XUV300 small SUV will be offered in four trim levels - W4, W6, W8 and W8(O). Dual front airbags, power windows, all-4 disc brakes, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution) and LED taillights will be offered as standard. The range-topping model comes equipped with features like rear parking sensors, seven airbags, rear parking camera, a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, and dual-zone automatic climate control unit. The SUV will also be equipped with factory-fitted electric sunroof, rear parking camera, rear air-conditioning vents and electrically adjustable & foldable outside rear view mirrors.
Mahindra has claimed that the petrol and diesel powertrains of the XUV300 compact SUV will give segment-leading torque outputs. It will debut the brand's all-new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that provides a peak torque of over 200Nm. On the flip side, the diesel model gets the new 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that also powers the Mahindra Marazzo. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 123bhp while yielding a segment leading 300Nm of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard. An AMT (automated manual transmission) will be introduced on a later date.

The Mahindra XUV300 is based on the SsangYong's X100 platform that underpins the Tivoli SUV. It is claimed to offer the segment best wheelbase of 2.6 meter, which translates into more cabin space. The Mahindra XUV300 will be the brand's 3rd monocoque platform based SUV and second in the XUV range. It will challenge the already established players including Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon. This segment will also witness the arrival of Hyundai's new small SUV, which is likely to be called the Styx, scheduled to make its debut at the 2019 New York Auto Show. Mahindra has also confirmed that a pure electric version of this SUV will be launched in 2020. This model is most likely to debut at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo.
