Mahindra XUV300 has been one of the most talked about compact SUVs in its segment. It has looted major sales figure of Tata Nexon and Ford Ecosport after its launch in Feb this year. But after Hyundai Venue launched, things started to behave differently for XUV300. However, Mahindra has some plans. They are developing a new 1.2-litre petrol DI engine for XUV300 which will be the most powerful machine available in the segment.

The new 1.2-litre petrol engine to power baby XUV will churn out massive 130 PS of power with 230 Nm of torque (20 Nm less than Jeep Compass Petrol). XUV300’e current Petrol mill is developing 110 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. After the launch of the new engine, it will have 20 PS more than its own old engine and Tata Nexon, 5 PS more power than Ford Ecosport, and 10 PS more than Hyundai Venue 1.0-litre turbo. Hence making it the most powerful contender in the segment. (Checkout the comparison chart of these 4 Compact SUVs)

Mahindra XUV300 Petrol DI engine launch by December 2019

As per the sources, the more powerful Mahindra XUV300 petrol will be a DI engine (Direct Injection). Construction of the DI engine is usually expensive than MPFI engine (Multiple point fuel injection) that is powering the current XUV300. Hence, the new engine will come with a bigger price. Mahindra XUV300 price for the current version starts at Rs. 7.90 lakhs for W4 variant and goes upto Rs. 11.49 Lakhs for W8(O) (Ex-Showroom). With the new engine, we expect a hike of around Rs. 50k in each variant.
