Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has added a couple of features to the automatic variant of Mahindra XUV500. Being launched in 2015, Mahindra XUV500 Automatic had almost all the features as its manual counterpart, save for the passive keyless entry system and the push button start. But now, the company has included both these features in the XUV500 automatic. They are offered on the flagship W10 grade, identical to the manual trim.
With the addition of new features, Mahindra XUV500 automatic now flaunts request buttons on the front door handles. Also, the SUV would now boast of a smart key in place of the common flip-out type key. Though, the push start button eats up space at the console, and results in a narrower closable storage area ahead of the gear lever. Besides the aforementioned updates, the SUV continues to carry all its standard features, which include 6 airbags, hill-hold and hill-descent control, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, projector headlights, ABS with EBD and an electric sunroof. For those asking, Mahindra XUV500 price starts at Rs. 12.12 Lakhs and goes as high as Rs. 18.17 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Maharashtra).
Mechanically, the SUV continues to be powered by the 2.2L mHawk140 diesel engine which develops a maximum power of 138bhp and peak torque of 330Nm. It is available with both the 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. It is also offered with an all-wheel-drive system, apart from the conventional front-wheel-drive system. In the Delhi-NCR region, the XUV500 comes with a 1.99L diesel powerplant due to Supreme Court's ban on the sales of diesel vehicles with engine capacity over 2000cc. Recently, Mahindra introduced the automatic gearbox with the 1.99L engine in the Delhi-NCR region at a sticker price of Rs. 14.51 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi). It is available in W6, W8 and W8 with prices being Rs. 14.51 Lakhs, Rs. 15.94 Lakhs and Rs. 17.32 Lakhs (All prices, ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively.
