Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has launched the petrol variant of XUV500 at a sticker price of Rs. 15.49 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom, Delhi) in the country. The petrol powered XUV500 will be available in a single variant with a 6-speed automatic transmission sourced from AISIN, Japan. Named as the ‘G AT’ variant, it will be available in select cities with immediate effect. With the introduction of this new variant, Mahindra XUV500 portfolio will now have a petrol variant along with a wide range of diesel variants.

According to Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales & Marketing - Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd , “Since its launch, the XUV500 has been a trendsetter in the premium SUV segment with a great value proposition plus head-turning style and a plethora of hi-tech features. The introduction of the XUV500 G AT petrol variant will excite consumers who have been eagerly awaiting a petrol option. The G AT variant delivers impressive performance that has come to be synonymous with the XUV500.” As for features, Mahindra XUV500 G AT would have Fully automatic temperature control (FATC), 8-way adjustable driver seat, Smart rain sensing wipers, Tyre-tronics, Cruise Control, Push button start and 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto & Emergency Call.
The new variant of Mahindra's flagship vehicle would also boast of several safety features in form of Dual airbags, ABS with EBD, Passive keyless entry, ESP with rollover mitigation, Intelligent light sensing headlamps, Logo projection lamp on ORVMs and Static bending headlamps as standard. Mechanically, it would be powered by the 2.2L mHawk petrol engine that generates maximum power of 140bhp and peak torque of 320 Nm. The XUV500 G AT variant is equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission which has features like the creep function and manual mode option. It would be up against the petrol variants of Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass and Toyota Innova Crysta in the Indian market.
