Mahindra XUV500 to be equipped with Android Auto from next year

Snapshot: The XUV is yet to get any cosmetic update for now. The utility vehicle maker introduced two new features back in July, 2016, which were keyless start and stop system and passive keyless entry in the W10 AT variant, previously which were being offered only in W10 and W8 manual variants. So for now the company is only offering an infotainment system with Android auto feature to keep the vehicle fresh.

Home grown utility vehicle manufacturer Mahindra and Mahindra is ready to equip its already feature packed SUV with Android auto enabled new infotainment system. This update will surely help the already popular SUV to compete with the upcoming Tata Hexa and Hyundai Tucson SUVs, which are already equipped with such an infotainment system, that supports Apple carplay and Android auto. The new upgrade will be available across the range, except the base W4 variant, that gets a basic 6-inch infotainment display.

According to Pravin Shah, President and Chief Executive (Automotive) of Mahindra & Mahindra,  the company has always been committed to introducing newer technological offerings in its vehicles to provide better user experience to the users. Going forward, after successful integration, the company will offer Android Auto in its flagship models of XUV 500 and the Scorpio as well as on the company’s future product.

Currently, the company is equipping its vehicles with its own Blue Sense App that lets the user integrate all digital communication channels inside their Mahindra vehicles using Bluetooth. But with the Android auto, the integration will be far more seamless.

However, the good news is that the buyer won’t have to shell out extra money for this feature.

The cheetah from Mahindra and Mahindra is powered by a brilliant 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. The diesel mill can produce 140 bhp of maximum power and 330 Nm of maximum torque, which makes it a brilliant highway cruiser. Delhi and NCR region will continue to be offered with a 1.99-litre mHawk diesel engine, due to the recent ban on SUVs that have 2.0 liter engine. This relatively small engine can generate similar power output of 140 bhp, but it produces a bit less torque of 320 Nm.
