Mahindra XUV500 Touches 1.5 Lakh Sales Milestone

Snapshot: The XUV500 also reached the significant milestone of completing 4 successful years on global roads.

Mahindra & Mahindra, the home-grown automajor, has announced that its flagship SUV - the XUV500 - has crossed the sales milestone of 1,50,000 units, including exports, since its launch in September 2011. The XUV500 also reached the significant milestone of completing 4 successful years on global roads. It is designed entirely in-house at Mahindra’s world class research and development facility, Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai.

Speaking on the XUV500 milestone, Pravin Shah, President & Chief Executive (Automotive), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said “This is a proud moment for us as the XUV500 reaches this milestone. We would like to thank our customers for their support which has enabled the brand to grow from strength to strength. This achievement reaffirms the XUV500’s immense popularity as it continues to set new standards in its category. Being a listening organization, we constantly incorporate consumer insights and feedback. With the launch of the New Age XUV500 in May 2015 we have further pushed the boundaries on the fronts of technology, capability and brand which has resonated well with our customers”.

Recently, the company introduced the much-needed facelift version of the cheetah inspired SUV in the country. And, now we have learnt that Mahindra XUV500 facelift has also been launched in South Africa at a starting price of ZAR 262,995 (Rs. 12.68 Lakhs). Mahindra has offered the new XUV500 in three trims: W4, W6 and W8. The new SUV comes loaded with several exquisite features such as 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, reverse parking camera, cruise control, power foldable ORVMs, automatic climate control, six airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and Hill Descent. Under the hood, it has the 2.2L, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel motor which develops the same 138bhp and 330 Nm as the India-spec model. The engine is linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox, which transfers the power to the rear wheels of the SUV. However, the range-topping W8 variant comes with optional all-wheel drive system.
