Mahindra XUV500 with automatic transmission coming in 2015

Snapshot: Mahindra has signed a deal with Aisin Seiki for 6-speed auto transmission for XUV500

The country’s own automaker, Mahindra & Mahindra, is working on developing its product line up in India. The company has recently revealed its plan to introduce quite a few models for much-developing compact segments market. Now it is emerged that Mahindra is also planning to launch a new variant of XUV 500 that has to be equipped with automatic transmission.

The company has signed a deal Aisin Seiki, one of the major auto-transmission suppliers across the globe, which will accommodate the 6-speed auto transmission for Mahindra and Ssangyong’s future models. Apparently, the new transmission will initially be introduced on Ssangyong upcoming X100 (compact SUV), followed by the XUV500. Mahindra has already been offering the automatic transmission on Scorpio, which is also due to get publically revealed in its 2014 avatar.

The first monocoque chassis based car, XUV500, from Mahindra’s stable rolled out in 2011 and undoubtedly, the XUV500 has brought many accolades in for the company. However, the feature-loaded soft-roader has always been surrounded with criticism for under-average quality of some of its elements The XUV500 Automatic is expected to enter the Indian market by the mid-2015 and expecting the new variant with a minor facelift could not be a nonsense.
