MAN Trucks India has recently unveiled the new CLA BS-IV compliant Bus Chassis range in Bengaluru. It is available in two 18.250 (4x2) and 22.300 (6x2) multi-axle variants. The CLA bus chassis models, with the front-engine layout, are designed for intercity coach operations and will be manufactured at MAN Trucks' manufacturing plant in Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh.
MAN has joined hands with three leading bus body builders in order to offer innovative body designs. Moreover, a robust structure from the tried and tested components have been used in the chassis that ensure high reliability and longevity of the vehicles.
The new CLA bus chassis will be driven by a high-performance BS-IV compliant 250 bhp and 300 bhp MAN D-0836 engine that will come paired with a 6-Speed gearbox. For reduced emissions, the turbocharged, common rail direct injection, inter-cooling diesel unit will be equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology, making the engines more fuel efficient and environment-friendly.
The bus will be riding on rear air suspension and will be equipped with air actuated drum brakes with ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) for driving stability and braking safety. It will also get a retarder and an engine valve brake system to provide with improved brake life and enhanced braking efficiency.
With regard to the new CLA bus chassis, Joerg Mommertz, Chairman & Managing Director, MAN Trucks India, has commented, “The new BS IV compliant CLA bus chassis is built on the established attributes of MAN brand in India – reliability and efficiency. We have now added the aspects of safety and comfort.”
He further added, “With the solutions from our bus body builder partners, customers can ask for various options for their intercity operations. We are confident that with the value proposition on offer, MAN will create a unique position in the market."
