Marquez seals his 11th win of the season at Silverstone; Rossi third

Snapshot: After starting the race from the pole position, Marquez had a narrow win over Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo

He was the fastest on Saturday. That's why he started from the pole position on Sunday at Silverstone. It was his 10th pole of the season and 11th win out of 12 races. If you are still wondering whom are we talking about, you don't deserve to be here.

Repsol Honda's Marc Marquez lost the lead in the first lap to Lorenzo, but fought it back with seven laps to go. Lorenzo, who has won at Silverstone in 2010, 2012 and 2013, showed his expertise and took lead again two laps later. Marquez then did all he could to come back on top and succeeded with three laps from the finish and ended 0.732 seconds ahead of Lorenzo.

Yamaha's Valentino Rossi broke another record this Sunday by becoming the most experienced MotoGP racer of all times. It was his 246th appearance in the premier class racing and by finishing at the podium behind Marquez and Lorenzo, he truly made the event grand. It was also his best performance ever at Silverstone. The Italian started sixth on the grid but made an excellent start. Fellow Italian rider Andrea Dovizioso gave him a tough time for the first four laps, but then got busy with Aleix Espargaro and Dani Pedrosa. Pedrosa then took the third spot four laps later, but was sent back to fourth after going too wide.

With just six races to go, Marquez has an 89 point lead over teammate Dani Pedrosa. Rossi is further 10 point behind Pedrosa. This is the third race in a row where Yamaha motorcycles have finished second and third.
