There is no doubt about the fact that Maruti Suzuki is the largest manufacturer in India and enjoys a respectful position in the country. While they have achieved many milestones in the past few years, Maruti has added a new feather to their cap. The country’s largest automobile manufacturer set a new record by selling 11.48 lakh units this year and enjoyed a total market share of a 44.8 percent from April to November 2014.
This is definitely a new milestone for any company by any standards. The market share increased by 4.1 percent as compared to the last year, but crossing the one million mark is not new to Maruti. The Indo-Japanese company was able to achieve a sales figure of 10.6 lakh units in 2010. The credit for the sales is given to the new products launched in 2014.
Maruti launched their much needed premium sedan, Ciaz in October, followed by new Alto K10 in November and facelifted Swift in December. All the three products became an instant hit among the buyers. Product-wise speaking, the product which was awaited for a long time and helped Maruti uplift its brand image was Ciaz. While the SX4 was not able to perform well, proving Maruti's inability to tap the premium segment, Ciaz helped the company build that image.
Maruti's sales and marketing team is not stopping at 1 million units and are planning an onslaught on the Indian market next year. A series of launch, and specially all new vehicles are lined up for next year. While YRA will come under the premium hatchback segment, S-Cross will be a new crossover and XA-Alpha, compact SUV. Additionally, Dzire facelift, Ertiga facelift, Wagon R Stingray AMT and YBA compact SUV are all in the pipeline.
