  • It is the only small car with a BS 6 certified engine.
  • Around 54 percent of Alto customers are first-time car buyers.

There is no stopping for the Maruti Alto as it has crossed the 38 Lakh units sales milestone in the Indian market. The small hatch has now become the best-selling car of India for the last 15 years on a trot. It was further revealed by Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki that around 54 percent of the Alto sales have come from first-time car buyers.

Maruti Suzuki has continuously updated the Alto in terms of exterior styling, interior cabin, safety features and engine performance with time.

Maruti Alto also earned the distinction of India's first car with BS 6 certified engine in the entry-level hatchback segment while delivering decent fuel efficiency of 22.05kmpl. It boasts of driver's airbag as a standard safety feature while the front passenger airbag comes as optional, even from the base variant - yet another first-in-segment feature of the hatch!

Other standard safety features available with Maruti Alto are Antilock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution System (EBD), Reverse Parking Sensor, Speed Alert System and Seat Belt Reminder for both driver and co-driver.
