Suzuki Baleno has made its global debut in production guise at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. More importantly, we have learnt that it would be launched on October 26, 2015 in India. Internationally, Baleno hatch would be sold in petrol guise only with the newly-developed 110bhp 1.0L turbocharged Boosterjet engine. However, the India-spec model would be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel trims with 1.2L and 1.3L engines, respectively. The 1.0L turbocharged engine won't be available at the time of launch and would be introduced later.
Being based on a new-generation platform, the Baleno adorns Suzuki's “Liquid Flow” design theme with increased rigidity and reduced weight. Toshihiro Suzuki, President, Suzuki Motor Corporation said, “The Baleno stands out in terms of styling and utility as well as in terms of both driving and environmental performance. It is a car that will go beyond—in all areas—what people have come to expect in a compact car.” The Baleno premium hatch would have a boot space of 355 litres, while it comes loaded with Apple CarPlay infotainment system, advanced multi-information colour display, and adaptive cruise control with speed limiter. Just so you know, Maruti YRA, as called in India, would rival the likes of Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz.
The India-spec Maruti Baleno would share its engines with the Swift hatch in both petrol and diesel trims. It would be powered by a 1.2L K-Series petrol engine and a 1.3L Multi-jet diesel engine. In addition, it would also have the company's SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology. It would be the second vehicle after the S-Cross to be sold via Maruti's new NEXA premium dealerships. Recently, we told you that production of the YRA aka Baleno has already started at company's production facility in Haryana, and it would be exported to other countries from here. Expect the Maruti YRA aka Suzuki Baleno to come in a price domain of Rs. 5.5-9 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
