Maruti Celerio launched with optional Airbags and ABS

Snapshot: Maruti Celerio will be offered with optional Airbags and ABS.

Maruti Suzuki launched the Celelrio at Auto Expo 2014 in Delhi, and was India’s first small hatchback to feature an AMT gearbox. Celerio was an instant hit in the Indian car market, the AMT option gave the people an option to buy an automatic car. This was also due to low price and high fuel efficiency of the Maruti Suzuki's product. Followed by the launch of Celerio in petrol version, Maruti has also launched CNG and diesel variant. Sales of this product have crossed over 1.3 lakh, making it India’s top 10 selling cars.

It is hard to believe that such a high selling car requires safety features, only the top-end version is loaded with airbags and ABS. Looking at the sales, Maruti Suzuki announced that all variants of Celerio will now be offered with optional dual front airbags and ABS. This announcement was made a week after the brand announced the launch of similar safety features Maruti Swift and Dzire models.

Mr. R S Kalsi, Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India, said, “Through Celerio we have always tried to offer the best to customers. By offering safety features like airbags for driver and co-driver, and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) from the base variant onwards in Celerio, we are making it more attractive for customers. I am happy that we are able to offer these safety features on Celerio much ahead of regulations.”
