We earlier reported you that advance bookings for the Maruti's upcoming premium sedan Ciaz has officially kick started from September 3, 2014 at a token amount of Rs. 21,000 and the sedan is due for launch in the first week of October. Now, if an ET report is to be believed, then the Maruti Ciaz has already received over 3000 pre-orders within 3 days of time. Moreover, the company has received more than 12,000 enquiries for the sedan across all its 1,370 dealerships across the country.
The country's largest automaker would present the Ciaz sedan in both petrol and diesel guises in four trims - V, V+, Z, Z+. The engine options would be sourced directly from company's existing MPV - The Ertiga. The diesel variants would in-house Fiat's tried and tested 1.3L Multi-jet diesel motor which would return an impressive power of 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque. In addition, it would yeild a best-in-segment mileage of 26.21 kmpl and thus, earning the prestigious title of India's most fuel efficient sedan.
On the other hand, the petrol variants would come loaded with a 1.4-liter K-Series engine, which is good enough to muster out 92.45PS of top power and 130Nm of peak torque. Both these engine would be paired with company's traditional 5-speed manual gearbox; However, an optional 4-speed automatic transmission would also be available with a petrol variant.
Just some time ago, Maruti commenced the production of Ciaz at its Manesar manufacturing facility in Haryana. Also, it has roped in Bollywood heart-throb Ranveer Singh to be the face of Ciaz sedan's promotional activities and campaigns. It would be placed in the C+ segment of cars in India and would be at loggerheads with 2014 Honda City, Hyundai Verna Fluidic, 2014 Nissan Sunny, Fiat Linea etc. to name a few. It is expected to be priced around in a bracket of Rs. 7.5 – 10.5 lakhs, Ex-Showroom.
