Maruti Eeco has made its return to the coveted list of country's top 10 cars after almost over a year. It registered sales of 10,254 units and seized the ninth spot by pushing the Grand i10 to the tenth position. In addition, several Maruti Suzuki cars grabbed the top six slots in the list of India's 10 best-selling passenger vehicles in April 2019. Hyundai was able to secure the remaining three spots in the list. Although, all the top 10 vehicles reflected a negative sales growth in April 2019 as compared to same month last year.
As per the data released by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Maruti Eeco recorded a growth of 23 percent as compared to the last fiscal. The company has already phased out the Omni from the Indian market and has ramped up the production of Eeco. Therefore, it is also expected to witness a surge in sales volumes in the coming months. Maruti Alto was the best-selling car with 22,766 units sold in April 2019. The small car has been the top-selling model in the Indian market in the FY19 with total volume of 259,401 units. It was followed by the DZire which occupied the second position with a total of 18,544 units sold during the month. The Baleno and Swift were at the third and fourth spots with sales figure of 17,355 and 15,776 units, respectively.
Maruti Vitara Brezza, which has been ruling the sub 4-meter SUV segment ever its launch, secured the fifth spot with sales number of 11,785 units. The Maruti onslaught didn't stop here as the New Wagon R, as the company calls it, was ranked at the sixth position with 11,306 units being retailed during April 2019. The seventh slot was grabbed by the Creta, which has been the best-selling compact SUV in India by outranking Renault Duster and Maruti S-Cross, with 10,487 units sold. Yet another Hyundai was at the next spot in form of the Elite i20 with numbers of 10,411 units. With the Eeco at the ninth spot, the tenth and the eventual position was secured by the Grand i10 hatch with sales of 9610 units.
