  • The Maruti Ertiga Cross is primarily a rugged version of the MPV.
  • The test mule has been spotted testing in Pune.
  • It inherits most of the styling cues from the regular Ertiga.
  • It seems to have higher ground clearance than the standard version.
  • Maruti Suzuki India could retail Ertiga Cross from its Nexa dealership network.

Maruti Ertiga Cross, a sportier variant of the MPV has been spied testing in the country for the first time. The new variant was spotted undergoing tests in Pune. Going by the Maruti Ertiga Cross images, it seems to be a sportier derivative of the MPV that has recently received a generation change.

In visual terms, the spotted model seems to have inherited most of the styling elements from Ertiga MPV such as body panels, albeit some new bits have also been added. That said, the test mule featured an upright nose, a larger grille with chrome finishing and LED daytime running lights equipped headlamps that seem to be reminiscent of Maruti Ciaz. In addition, it also comes with a new bumper in front with large air intakes and a more prominent body cladding. The ground clearance seems to have been increased as compared to the standard Ertiga.

While the spy images reveal exterior styling, details deeming Maruti Ertiga Cross interior are yet sketchy. The rugged derivative of the MPV is estimated to get an all-black cabin akin to the Ertiga Black Edition. A slightly premium six-seat version of the MPV is also in the making and spy images reveal captain seats in the second row.

Even though the test mule was heavily camouflaged, the emission testing gear was visible, indicating it could derive power from a BS6-compliant K15B engine. It is expected that Maruti could either position the Ertiga Cross a notch above the regular version or offer it as a slightly more alternative to the MPV. Maruti Suzuki India could retail the crossover from its Nexa dealership network instead of Arena outlets.
