Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), having launched the S-Cross premium crossover a couple of days back, would launch the Ertiga facelift as its next offering in the country. The Maruti Ertiga facelift would debut at 2015 GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) on August 20, while an India launch would happen in and around October. The changes with the Ertiga facelift would be strictly cosmetic; however, an AMT unit might be offered along with the standard manual variants.
The cosmetic changes are more prominent at the front as the new MPV would flaunt a new front grille and restyled bumper. The side profile would be identical to the ongoing model, save for the new design of alloy wheels. Going at the rear end, there would be a new chrome applique for the registration plate enclosure. The interior cabin would be updated as well, with quite a few advanced features such as engine start/stop button, steering mounted phone and audio controls, smart entry and electrically folding wing mirrors. Just so you know, Maruti Ertiga is sold in Indonesia via CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kits imported from India.
Mechanically, the Ertiga facelift is going to carry the same set of petrol and diesel engines. However, it is being learnt that the company might retune these engines to extract more mileage. For those asking, the current model of Ertiga offers mileage of 16.02kmpl and 20.77kmpl in petrol and diesel modes, respectively. Currently, the segment leader in terms of fuel efficiency is Honda Mobilio. The manual gearbox would be offered as standard, while several reports indicate that an ANT gearbox might also be introduced. Maruti Ertiga competes against the likes of Honda Mobilio, Renault Lodgy and Toyota Innova. Pricing of the Ertiga facelift is remain to be a bit more than the current model.
