Maruti’s upcoming Micro SUV was first made its Indian debut at the 2016 Auto Expo earlier this year and Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its most anticipated product, the Ignis in the coming months. Once launched, it will pound with the likes of Mahindra KUV100 and ahead of its launch the car has been spied inside-out in production form.
The Ignis gets a fresh design language with its tall stance, giving a bold appearance to the model. The front fascia gets a boxy look with LED headlamps, while at the rear, a wedge-shaped rear fascia is what you get see. The Maruti Suzuki Ignis is 3,700 mm in overall length, 1,660 mm in width, making a stance 1,595mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,435mm and a ground clearance of 180mm.The interior of the Ignis welcomes you with a dual-tone dashboard that sports a Harman Kardon audio system with Bluetooth/USB connectivity, digital MID. Safety wise, it will features airbags, ABS with EBD and hill descent control.
Mechanically, the Ignis will draw its power from a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol (same as employed in Swift) that produces 85 bhp of power with 115 Nm and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel unit that generates 74 bhp of power with 190 Nm. The petrol version will be offered with an optional automatic transmission in the form of a CVT (Continuously Varying Transmission) instead of an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) and its this variant has been spied.
In the Swift Dzire, the petrol engine is connected to a 4-speed automatic gearbox, but with the use of CVT, you will get a better fuel efficiency, while other transmission option will be a 5-speed manual gearbox. Maruti Ignis will be the third product to be sold by the company’s premium dealership Nexa and will also price below the Vitara Brezza.
