Country’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch its premium hatchback Baleno, globally in the coming months, the launch will take place in over 100 markets that will include South Africa and the Caribbean Islands as well. Maruti Suzuki has already sold more than 1 lakh units of the premium hatchback in the domestic market and will also be exported to countries such as th Middle East, Latin America and Southeast Asia.
"In following months it (Baleno) will be launched in Caribbean Islands, Uruguay, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, Peru, South Africa, Indonesia, Middle East countries like UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Lebanon, Qatar, Saudi Arabia," a Maruti’s spokesperson was quoted as saying by Press Trust of India. Currently, the company exports the Maruti Suzuki Baleno to the countries such as Austria, Denmark, France, Hungary, Iceland, Chile, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Japan, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Israel, England, Bhutan, Nepal and Australia. And till now around 38,000 units of the model has been dispatched to all these markets.
Launched on October 26, 2015, the Baleno is the first car from the house of Maruti Suzuki that is being exported to Japan, where the parent company is headquartered. Maruti Suzuki registered good domestic sales in the Q2 of the financial year that ended September 30, 2016. But in terms of export, it ended up with a 6 percent drop.
The auto giant sold 7.05 lakh units in domestic sales during the second quarter, reporting a growth of 12.1 percent as against 6.29 lakh cars sold in the corresponding period last year, while the exports were disappointing, with 6.3 percent drop to 61,543 unit vehicles from 65,701 units shipped out of the country in the same duration last year.
