Just after launching the facelifted Ciaz in India at a price point of Rs 8.19 lakh, India’s leading carmaker, Maruti Suzuki has updated its compact SUV S-Cross which now gets additional features. Among the new features, the SUV gets a speed alert system, passenger seat belt reminder and rear parking sensors. It is to be noted that the above mentioned features are standard across the range. The Delta variant in the line-up additionally gets an automatic climate control, cruise control, machined alloy wheels, rear wiper & washer, auto folding outside rear view mirrors with integrated turn signals and smart keyless entry with engine start/stop button.

Maruti Suzuki introduced the facelifted model of S-Cross in October last year. It is currently available in Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha variants. Under the hood, it gets a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder oil burner which comes equipped with Suzuki’s mild hybrid technology. In terms of power, it makes 89 bhp at 4,000 rpm against 200 Nm of peak torque at 1,750 rpm. Transmission duties are handled by a conventional 5-speed manual unit.

Reports in media are rife that Maruti Suzuki could also introduce a new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine on the S-Cross in future. For those not in the know, this is the same engine which also powers the recently launched Ciaz facelift. The new petrol unit makes 105 PS against 138 Nm torque on the new Ciaz. It is yet unknown if the petrol engine will continue to offer same power on the S-Cross or if Maruti will calibrate it for changed output.
