With the festive season knocking at the door, Maruti Suzuki, the Indo-Japanese automaker, has launched the new Utsav Edition of the Alto 800. This new physical update seems to be a big step from the company to keep the buyers interested in the Alto as it has not seen any updates for around a couple of years.
The new Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 Utsav Edition is more about physical changes than mechanical ones. The new edition gets festive coloured decals in the side sections along with chrome garnishing on the ORVMs. It also gets an addition of reverse parking sensors. On the inside, the company has added new seat upholstery. All of these accessories together amount to Rs. 20,000.
The top end variant of the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, which gets the Utsav Edition skin, is powered by a 0.8-litre petrol engine which is capable of making a maximum power of 48 bhp at 6,000 revs per minute along with a peak torque of 69 Nm at 3,500 revs per minute. The transmission duties are done by a 5-speed manual gearbox unit.
Presently, the Alto 800 is the leader in the mini-hatchback segment with the sales figure fixed at 1,62,894 units in the first eight months of FY 2016-2017. However, the popularity of the Renault Kwid and Datsun Redi-GO have caused the sales to take a dip by 7.4 percent.
Hence, we are still waiting for the company to introduce the facelifted version of the Alto 800 with big and prominent changes inside out. The company is already working on a concept car and will be showcasing it at the 2018 Auto Expo. This will decide the future of the Alto branding in India.
The top end variant of Maruti Alto 800 price at Rs. 3.74 lakhs. Adding the styling accessories, the prices will shoot up to Rs, 3.94 lakhs. However, the company’s dealerships are offering a discount of up to Rs. 25,000 along with additional bonus on exchange.
