Maruti Suzuki Chairman, RC Bhargava has made an announcement to shareholders at the 35th AGM of the company that took place in New Delhi that the high-in demand Maruti Baleno will be rolled out from its Gujarat plant on February 2017. The Gujarat plant was earlier expected to start producing cars around May-June 2017. But due to heavy demand, it seems that the plan had to be kickstarted a little earlier. This announcement has put an end to the months of speculations over this car.
The Baleno is a premium hatchback offering from Maruti and had received an overwhelming response and wiped out the entire stock at a lightening speed. On top of that, 50,000 assured buyers, who had booked this car months back has been waiting eagerly ever since.
The Baleno is the only car from Maruti Suzuki to be manufactured only in India and has sold over 80,000 units in the country already. The company is now making plans to broaden its horizon and sell the global automobile in atleast 100 countries.
A 1.2litre K-Series petrol engine churning a speed of 83bhp and 115Nm of torque can be found under the hood of the car while the diesel version comes with a 1.3litre engine that can generate a speed of 74bhp and 190Nm of torque.
The car is not much of a looker but somehow imparts a very modest look both on the inside as well as the outside. Starting at 5.15lakhs, the Suzuki Baleno is a well-priced and smart looking hatchback. It has a user-friendly cabin that can generously accommodate five people without compromising on head and leg space. It comes with a 339 litre of boot and can be safely called the second biggest hatchback from Maruti. The company has not compromised on safety as it has loaded the Baleno with dual Airbags, ABS (AntiLock Braking System) and EBD (Electronic brakeforce distribution) on all its variants.
