Maruti Suzuki, the Indo-Japanese automaker, is all set to add a new variant of the Celerio in its hatchback line-up in India. The new variant of the car will be called the Celerio X. It has been spotted at a dealer’s stockyard ahead of its launch this festive season.
The spotted Maruti Suzuki Celerio X wore a bright orange shade, similar to the one that was seen on the Alto K10. The new variant has a lot of styling elements over the standard version like the addition of a generous quantity of black plastic cladding all along the lower skirts. This makes the car look muscular, unlike any normal hatchback. The circular fog lamps are fitted in the completely blacked out region of the front bumper. However, the ones that were spotted seemed to be the entry-level variant of the Celerio X as it had black steel rims. The top variants are expected to get alloys.
Maruti Suzuki may be using the same 1.0-litre K10B petrol engine in this version as well. The engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 60 bhp and a highest torque of 90 Nm. However, since the Celerio X wears a crossover styling, we expect the company to tune the engine a bit in order to get the power deliverance in line with the rugged appearance.
The new version of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio will carry some features from the standard version, like the electrically adjustable ORVMs, power windows keyless entry, Bluetooth connectivity on the dashboard cluster, dual safety airbags, ABS and steering mounted controls for the audio system.
The new Maruti Suzuki Celerio X will be competing against the likes of Mahindra KUV100 and Toyota Etios Cross. The prices are expected to be a little higher than the standard Celerio. Despite this, it might well be the most affordable crossover-styled hatchback in India.
