More interestingly, this time the new 1.5L diesel misses out on the company mild hybrid technology, though, the petrol version is offered with a mild hybrid technology. And if we compare the pricing of the newly launched version and the one with a 1.3-litre diesel engine – the lower variants are now pricier, whereas the new top-end Alpha variant is higher by Rs 35,000. That said, the new engine will also get higher low-end torque, making it a better ride for the city, good NVH performance, and best-in-class fuel economy.
With the launch of the 1.5-litre diesel engine, Maruti Suzuki has finally stepped forward and now has the 1.5L capacity unit available for both petrol and diesel variants. Being one of the best-selling products of the company, the range-topping variant Alpha accounts for 54 percent of the models' total sales.
