Country’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki announced that its premium mid-size sedan Ciaz has crossed one lakh cumulative sales mark in the domestic market in June 2016. Maruti launched the model in October 2016 and its design and advance features, it has boosted the popularity of the car among customers. It is the first car to offer a SmasrtPlay touch-screen infotainment system and with a smart hybrid technology (SHVS) in India.
Speaking on this, Mr R S Kalsi, Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki said, "Ciaz is tastefully designed borrowing cues from European styling that is clean, elegant and clutter-free. Use of technological innovations like SHVS has made it even more attractive. Today, Ciaz is the largest selling sedan in the A3+ segment. It has enabled us to achieve a market share of 40% in the premium sedan segment."
Moreover, the newly launched Ciaz diesel SHVS is a most fuel efficient car in the country, delivering a fuel economy of 28.09kmpl (ARAI specified). It is also offered with features like dual airbags and ABS as an option from the base variant onwards.
Under the hood, MAruti Suzuki Ciaz is offered in both petrol and diesel options, where the petrol variants are powered by the next generation 1.4-litre K14 VVT engine that produces a maximum power of 91bhp at 6000rpm and a peak torque of 130Nm at 4000rpm. The engine is mated with a 5-speed manual transmission, while there is also a 4-speed automatic gearbox on offer with the automatic variants. On the other hand, the diesel variants come loaded with a Fiat-sourced, 1.3L MJD DDiS200 engine, which is good enough for making out a maximum power output of 89bhp at 4000rpm and a peak torque performance of 200Nm at 1750rpm. It is paired with the company's conventional 5-speed manual gearbox to maximize fuel efficiency. There is no automatic transmission on offer in the diesel guise.
The average monthly sales of the Ciaz stood over 5,000 units in the first five months in this year’s calendar.
