Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, even prior to its launch, has registered over 5000 pre-orders as of now, reveals a report on AutoCar India. The company commenced the advance bookings of this premium sedan from September 3 and it is slated to launch in the first week of October during festive season. The Maruti dealers across the nation confirmed the overwhelming response for this mid-sized sedan.
This news comes a respite for the country's largest automaker as it hasn't been able to do well in this segment. The SX4 wasn't quite successful in wooing the buyers when it was launched in 2006. Moreover, Maruti launched it in diesel avatar in 2011 in an awe to fetch some good numbers, but in vain. It is also being learnt that Maruti is manufacturing around 100 units of the Ciaz sedan daily in order to ensure ample stock. The company intends to have around 10000 units of the sedan in stock before it officially announces its launch.

As known, Maruti Ciaz would arrive in both petrol and diesel guises in four trims - V, V+, Z, Z+. The company recently released the official brochure of the car and roped-in Bollywood heart-throb Ranveer Singh as its brand ambassador. The Ciaz's engine options would be directly sourced from Maruti's existing MPV - Ertiga. It would carry a 1.4L K-Series petrol motor and a 1.3L Multi-jet diesel mill which would belt out a maximum power output of 91bhp and 89bhp, respectively. The engines would be mated to company's conventional 5-speed manual gearbox. However, Maruti might offer a CVT automatic transmission with the petrol guise as option.
