  • Maruti Dzire is the third company vehicle to cross 2 million sales after Alto & Swift.
  • Maruti Dzire has been India's best-selling sedan for the last 10 years.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire has crossed the 2 million units' cumulative sales milestone in the Indian market. Last year, the hatch sibling Swift too had breached the same landmark. Being firstly introduced in March 2008, the Dzire had been the country's best-selling sedan for the past 10 years or so.

The company has sold over 1.20 Lakh units of the sedan between April-November 2019 despite the economic slowdown and deteriorating auto sector. Maruti Dzire's first model was launched in March 2008 while the second-gen model came onto the roads in February 2012 followed by the current third-gen model which was launched in May 2017.

Underpinning the lightweight Heartect architecture, it is one of the most proportioned and decent looking sedans in the country. Various features such as LED projector headlamps with DRLs, automatic climate control with rear vents, Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, etc. make it even more desirable.

The Maruti Dzire is also very well versed with safety features like ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, and seat-belt reminder alert are offered as standard.

Mechanically, it is available in both petrol and diesel fuel trims with a 1.2L K12M engine and a 1.3L D13A engine, respectively. The former delivers a top power of 82bhp at 6000rpm and peak torque of 113Nm at 4200rpm while the latter churns out 74bhp at 4000rpm and 190Nm at 2000rpm. Both the engines are BS 4 certified and come mated to a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox as standard.

Maruti Dzire challenges the likes of Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Tigor and Ford Aspire in India.
