Maruti Suzuki India has launched the BS6 compliant petrol version of its compact MPV, Ertiga in the country with prices starting from Rs 7.54 lakhs and going up to Rs 10.05 lakhs (ex-showroom). The MPV receives updates to the engine in line with the upcoming BS6 emission norms set to implement from April 1, 2020. With the petrol unit upgraded to BS6 standards, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Petrol BS6 price has increased by up to Rs 10,000, depending on the variant one picks.
First launched in 2012, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga received a generation change in November last year. Akin to the first-generation model, the existing version has been well-received by the customers. Under the hood, the seven-seater MPV gets a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder SHVS K15B petrol unit, this is the same engine which powers Ciaz. Equipped with Suzuki’s mild Smart Hybrid technology, it makes peak power and torque of 104.7 PS and 138 Nm respectively.
As for the transmission, this engine is available with a five-speed manual and an optional four-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. A new variant featuring a CNG kit was recently added to the line-up. The CNG grade is claimed to offer an impressive 26.2 km/kg of fuel economy. Another variant, christened XL6 is underway, this six-seater model will get the 1.5-litre BS6 compliant engine, benefitted by the SHVS technology.
It will feature an all-black theme inside the cabin and will share all the features with the top-spec Ertiga variant along with some additional bits. Prominent changes will be made on the outside to distinguish it from the regular Ertiga. In addition, Maruti Suzuki will roll out the new S-Presso micro-SUV during the festive season this year.
