The Maruti Ertiga has always been a successful MPV model for the company. The Ertiga played a vital role in pushing up the sales of Maruti Suzuki cars with the introduction of its second-generation vehicle.

The company had made its intentions clear at the Expo by announcing the Mission Green Million Theme by displaying hybrid and CNG vehicles at the Expo. The cars included the Swift Hybrid and the S-Presso S-CNG. Today, the company has lived up to its word by launching the BS6-compliant S-CNG version of the Ertiga. This vehicle reportedly delivers a mileage of 26.08km/kg. Complying with BS6 emission norms, the Suzuki Ertiga S-CNG is the first MPV with a CNG variant in the country.

The Indian Government has announced ambitious plans to curb oil import and enhance the contribution of natural gas towards ensuring a clean and green environment. It is playing its role by encouraging the setting up of CNG fuel pumps across the country.

The S-CNG vehicles comprise dual interdependent ECUs and an intelligent injection system. Since April 2019, Maruti Suzuki has been introducing BS6-compliant vehicles. Experimenting with CNG as an alternative fuel is one of such measures. It tested the waters by introducing the CNG-spec Alto. Recent reports say that nearly 12 Maruti Suzuki products comply with the BS6 emission norms.

Maruti Suzuki has lived up to its reputation as the largest selling vehicle manufacturer in India. The company has sold over five lakh BS6 compliant cars up to now. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga S-CNG has the distinction of being the first MPV to come with a factory-fitted CNG system. On the BS6 emission compliance front, it is the second BS6-compliant S-CNG vehicle from the Maruti stable.
